I remember my mom giving me the Wizard of Oz by L Frank Baum when I was little. I remember finding out it was a series and I could continue the story and being so excited. I have been in love with series ever since! What was the first series you remember reading?

Yes I know it's not really a proper book series, but that was definitely the first that I remember reading myself.
The first real series that I read was the lord of the rings (followed by the hobbit) - it took 18 months to read LOTR the first time.
The very first series that I bought myself was the DarkSword series.

The first I remember reading are Isaac Asimov's Foundation series and Frank Herbert's Dune series. Pretty much read stand-alones before that. My son, though, read almost every Bobbsey Twins book one summer, and the next summer it was The Hardy Boys and even some Nancy Drew. He was and still is very secure in his manhood. Heh heh heh. My daughter's first series, in the 90s, was Animorphs. I didn't know anything about them when she started reading several, so I checked a couple out of the library. Then I read about 8 more. I'm a sucker for a novel premise.

My first series that I read was The Hardy Boys. Birthdays and Christmas that's what I wanted. My Mom and G-Ma had to keep a list as to what books I needed. Now here it is 40/50 odd years later and I still have those books.

The Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I loved them when I was a little girl!

There are two series I remember reading as a child...the first was Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Clearly. I don't know if that was a series or not but there were several books that had the same characters in it and I read them all.
The other series was Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene. My parents gave it to me for my birthday and I have been hooks on mysteries ever since. Mom made sure each of us kids had a library card and I think I lived in the mystery section from the time she gave me the Nancy Drew until now.

OMG! The talk f Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys reminded me of the first series I ever read (on my own, anyway) was Tom Swift, Jr. I can hardly find them now (don't really try hard). But about fifty years ago in elementary school they got me hooked, for life, on Science Fiction

My first series were Nancy Drew and Little House on the Prairie. Also Trixie Belden and some of the Bobbsey Twins.

Nancy Drew of course! I never really got into the Hardy Boys much. I had a library card and loved going to the library reading all the mysteries and gothic romance could find. Also, Mary Stewart's King Arthur books when I was a bit older.

The Bobbsey Twins were my first series. I still have the books as a matter of fact though they are well over 40 years old. Just can't part with them.
