What is your favorite local book store? What is unique about it? I love the Brookline Booksmith in Brookline (near Boston). They have an awesome used book section on the bottom floor. Have you visited any unique stores on your travels?

I love a bookstore called The Open Book in Wadena, MN. It's a big bookstore in a small town in rural MN. There are new books and used books. If Gillette doesn't have it, she'll hunt it down and order it for you. It's spacious and cozy at the same time, and she has an enviable number of events.

Lido Bookstore in Newport Beach CA near Lido Island. The proprietor or friend who sometimes "tends the store" love to talk books. I always enjoy the books they recommend, find local books unavailable anywhere else. Wonderful browsing spot after dinner at nearby seafood restaurants.

You all are making me wish I lived close to the bookstores above-they sound amazing!

There is one bookstore I love visiting in my hometown of Baltimore--The Book Nook. It's a small store crammed with floor to ceiling bookshelves(my kind of shop!) They have all of the genres you can think of and lots of books within each category. You can also sell back your books and earn "credit" for books in the store.

I love the store however because of the selection of children books--I am trying to collect all of my childhood series(Babysitter's Club, Sweet Valley High and Twins, Sleepover Friends, Beverley Cleary, etc.)

I wish I had known this about 2 years ago - I had the entire Sweet Valley High and Twins book series in my parents' basement. Ended up donating them to Salvation Army.

This makes me wish we had a local bookstore like these. There was only one in the area a few years ago and she loved books like I do. She could talk books for hours but the building owner that owned the mall would never let her advertise and her shop was back in the corner and hardly noticeable - she finally packed up and left. Most of the other local stores I've been in are run seem to be run by people that act as if they don't want to be bothered. Right now I'm enjoying the small library close to the house - they are all very friendly and helpful.

There is a bookstore at the corner of my street (how great is that) it has books of all kinds. You can also sell books for "In Store Credit". Also all the books are 50% -80% less than publisher price.
